Most of the dogs and cats we present here live in a shelter in Romania. Some have already been lucky enough to find a foster home. They are all waiting for their chance, for a new life in their new home, with their people who love and care for them.

A few of our animals cannot be rehomed for health reasons or due to their age. They are also dependent on the support of a sponsor.

Cornetu - Dogs in the killing station
The half private, half municipal shelter in the town of Cornetu is known as a place of horror. In this killing station dogs that are either caught or directly “disposed of”.
The dogs live here in the most miserable conditions. There is a lack of food and medical care. The history and health of these dogs is unknown in most cases.
Catalina is the only person allowed to visit and feed the dogs in Cornetu.
Thanks to her tireless efforts, no more euthanizations have been carried out since 2020. But the kennels are filling up every day, increasing the risk that the senseless killing will start again.
There is a way to “release” dogs from Cornetu. We would like to take this opportunity to describe what this means in terms of costs and responsibility:
Releasing a dog from Cornetu costs between € 150 – € 350.
This includes:
- – the release fee (outcome) from the killing station
- – a medical examination by a vet and any necessary treatment.
- – Food and board for 1 month at the sanctuary.
Special case sponsorship for dog in the killing:
Since we do not know the state of health and the characteristics of the dogs in the killing station, releasing them from the killing station means a particularly high assumption of responsibility, which can be associated with high costs.
The already overcrowded shelters can therefore only take in additional dogs from Cornetu if financial security in the form of sponsorship is guaranteed.

Adoption of a dog from Cornetu:
Of course, there are also many poor furry friends who have never had a home and have only experienced bad things at the hands of humans. They are caught on the streets and are often traumatized and very fearful and reserved towards people. These dogs often need a little more time before they can be adopted.
But in Cornetu there are also many trusting and loving dogs who previously had a home, but unfortunately were no longer wanted. They know family life and are used to people. These dogs can be adopted without any problems.
